Family Dentistry Built Around Your Child's Growing Smile
Healthy smiles play a key role in your child’s development, from their early years right through their teenage years, and into adulthood, but juggling a busy family lifestyle isn’t always easy. Between work, school and everything else, it can feel like you never catch a break.
We want your visits to the family dentist to feel as smooth and effortless as possible. We’re happy to accommodate your busy schedule with flexible hours and grouped appointments for everyone.
As your child grows up, they’ll reach many dental care milestones, from their first checkup appointment, to losing baby teeth, to getting their adult teeth in, and eventually visiting the dentist on their own to keep up routine dental care. Our team also focuses on pediatric treatment and education, so your child feels informed and comfortable at every visit. We can’t wait to be there for every step.

Frequently Asked Questions
Your child will start cutting their very first baby teeth at around 6 months of age. It’s recommended that children visit the family dentist by age 1 or within 6 months of their first tooth coming in. If you suspect something is wrong, or your child seems to be experiencing discomfort or pain, please book an appointment right away. It’s never too late to book a child’s first dental appointment.
Baby teeth are just as important as adult teeth. Parents should understand that baby teeth do far more than hold space in the jaw for permanent teeth to come in. Children’s teeth can permanently shape how their face looks, how they smile and how often they smile. Kids who feel free to build confidence and smile big during their early years tend to keep those habits for life. Dental pain, even mild pain that children learn to normalize, can leave a lasting negative impact on their eating habits, including how they chew, what kinds of food they prefer and how much food they eat.
The length of the dental appointment depends on the child’s needs, and how cooperative they are feeling during the exam. That said, a dental appointment typically lasts about one hour.
Your toddler, child or teen should visit the family dentist just as often as you do. We recommend a routine dental checkup and cleaning every 6 months, unless otherwise specified. If your child has a toothache or jaw pain, is often rubbing or clenching their jaw, or is avoiding hard or cold foods, please book an appointment sooner.
A cavity is a hole in the tooth that grows larger over time. Cavities may or may not cause pain or sensitivity. It’s important to treat cavities early, before they turn serious or lead to infection, even in baby teeth! Cavities are caused by bacteria and plaque buildup, made worse by sugary or acidic foods and drinks. Some people are simply more prone to cavities than others.
Your mouth isn’t just your teeth. It’s a whole system, including your teeth, tongue, gums, cheeks, glands, ligaments, joints, bone and more. When one part of your oral health suffers, your whole mouth suffers right along with it. Swollen, itchy, sore or bleeding gums can indicate a serious problem.
We understand how hectic family life can be! Our family dentist can serve your whole family by booking back to back appointments. Give us a call, and we’d be happy to accommodate you.
